When you pack up the family and head to Lake George, everyone is excited about the trip and ready for a fun-filled getaway. The biggest question, just after “Are we there yet?”, is “What are we going to do first?”

Luckily for families who make Lake George their summer vacation destination, there’s no shortage of great activities that are great for parents and kids of all ages. At Adirondack Diamond Point Lodge, our guests always enjoy the region’s family-friendly fun. Here are just some of the favorites:

Mini Golf Courses are a Big Hit

Summer vacations aren’t the same without a few rounds of mini golf where you can test your skills against the Taj Mahal or a giant sombrero. Lake George has plenty of mini golf courses and Around the World Golf consistently rates as one of the best ones in the U.S. You can also play at other themed local courses, including Goony Golf, Lumberjack Pass, Pirates Cove, The Fun Spot, and many more. Even if someone in your group isn’t a fan of mini golf, the ice cream at the snack bar more than makes up for a high score.

Make History at Fort William Henry and Fort Ticonderoga

A little history during summer vacation is always a good thing, especially when it comes along with interesting activities and events. At Fort William Henry and Fort Ticonderoga, the whole family can step back in time to the 18th century and learn through guided tours, hands-on adventure programs, exciting re-enactment events, and educational exhibits. In addition to the forts, there are plenty of historical sites across the Lake George region where you can get a sense of the history and have some fun.

Get Wet and Wild at Six Flags Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor

When you can make one of the best amusement parks in the northeast part of your vacation it’s a no-brainer. A trip to Six Flags Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor should be a family-fun tradition. Featuring 135-plus rides, concerts, and events, this combination of theme and water park offers something for everyone from the little kids to the big kids. You’ll enjoy awesome roller coasters, water slides, and a wave pool with all sorts of entertainment options throughout the day. After a day at Six Flags, the whole family will be ready to come back to the Lodge to rest and recuperate.

Roar Like a Dinosaur at Lake George Expedition Park

You can’t go wrong with a combination of dinosaurs and amusement rides for kids of all ages. The Lake George Expedition Park is home to the Dino Roar Valley, which features life-sized dinosaurs along a nature trail. Kids can learn about the Jurassic prehistoric age while digging for hidden fossils, listening to roars, and leaving their own tracks. Don’t forget to take a pic with the largest dinosaur in Lake George — Titanosaurus.  The park also features Magic Forest, with rides suitable for all ages, making it a great family outing.

Is Your Family Ready for an Extreme Adirondack Adventure?

At Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course, there’s 1.5 miles of treetop ropes courses and a special kids’ course for ages six and over with more than 30 games. There are six aerial adventure courses and 120 obstacles that include everything from ziplines to rope swings to Tarzan jumps. Kids between the ages of 3 ad 7 will love the calmer Squirrels Den. Parents can walk underneath the aerial courses on trails to snap pics and cheer on their little adventurers.
